Dear Miller High School Baseball Players and Parents,

The foundation of everything we do is team success. Every decision I make—from lineups to in-game strategy—is guided by what’s best for the team, even if that doesn’t always align with individual desires. That’s part of being on a team. With a season of 20+ games, my job is to evaluate performance and determine which players are best positioned to contribute to our success on any given day.

Players who consistently perform at a high level—whether in games, practice, or within their specific roles—will earn more playing time. Sometimes, the player who fills a particular role effectively can be more valuable than someone with more individual talent in a specific situation.

To Parents:
Your view on who’s playing well might not always match mine. My coaching decisions are based solely on what gives the team the best chance to succeed. For this reason, playing time and position assignments are not subjects for parent-coach discussions.

To Players:
You are always welcome to speak with the coaching staff about your role. Just know that we’ll be honest with you. Every player has value, but playing time must be earned through consistent effort and performance. In some games, you may play every inning; i others, you may not at all. Show up every day ready to compete and prove yourself.

Game Days and Parent Expectations:
Baseball is a game of strategy and percentages. Not every decision will work perfectly, but every one is made with the team’s best interest in mind. I ask that you support the coaching staff and avoid negative comments, especially during games. Please also refrain from coaching or approaching players during competition—your role is to be a positive and supportive presence in the stands.

Our goal is to make this season a great experience for every player. With your support, we can make that happen.
